Las Vegas, NV— In a December Slot Secrets poll of 2332 readers who had played slots in both online and on-land casinos within the past year, a surprising 76% chose online casinos when asked where they preferred to play.

In a 5 to 1 landslide victory for online casino slot games, 76% of those responding said they preferred playing slots online, while 15% preferred on-land slot machines and 9% expressed no preference.

Online casino slots gained nearly 32 points from a similar poll taken a year earlier. Of readers whose preference switched to playing slots online, 48% said that faster payouts of winnings had been the key factor in their switch.

Another 32% said that improvements in the online slot games themselves had been the key reason, while almost 20% said that online casino bonuses or better payouts were most important to them, because they added up to more frequent or bigger wins.

Overall, the reasons players gave for preferring online slots to playing on-land had a lot to do with relaxation and comfort. The top two cited reasons were that online slots were "more relaxing," and that there were no strangers to bother you while playing online.

Playing slots at home in online casinos was also credited with being more comfortable and convenient for players.

Several mothers with young children explained that they could relax with online slots without having to hire a babysitter. Other players explained that they could enjoy online play without committing a great deal of time and expense to a casino trip.

Other players in areas with local land casinos said that they found online slot play safer. One player explained that she no longer had to worry about getting mugged in the casino parking lot!

Still other players explained that they had switched to online slots because it made financial sense.

For example, one university mathematics professor pointed out that players could expect bigger and more frequent wins playing online. He explained that this was because of both the higher slot payout percentages in the best online casinos, and because of the bonuses, which return a lot more money to players than even the best of the on-land slot players' clubs he had found.

Readers were also asked how frequently they play slots, whether online or on-land. The players were divided roughly into three equally sized groups, with 1/3 playing 6 times a year or less, 1/3 playing 7-12 times a year, and 1/3 playing more than 12 times a year.

Online players tended to play more frequently than those with an on-land preference. Several players explained that they could afford to play more, because of their increased winnings.
